The Saskatchewan Junior Handling program is supported by a dedicated team of volunteers who help guide, organize, and advocate for Junior Handlers across the province. Their passion, time, and leadership help create opportunities for youth to learn, compete, and be part of an encouraging community.
Our Council oversees the structure of the program, event coordination, decisions, and program development. They work behind the scenes to ensure juniors have a positive and enriching experience throughout the year. This ensures that our junior program and decisions are aligned with CKC regulations, opportunities, and long-term development for youth in dogsports.
These are the voices of our youth, juniors who advocate for their peers, help welcome new members, support young handlers at events, and provide feedback to the council.
Our Treasurer ensures donations, sponsorships, budgets, and awards funding are responsibly managed. This role is essential to the sustainability of our program and events.
The Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) divides the country into geographic zones, each represented by a CKC Director and representatives who advocates for the interests of clubs, exhibitors, breeders, and junior handlers in that region. Representatives from all CKC zones meet to discuss:
Junior handling program development
National and regional dog show standards
Event rules and ethics
Growth strategies for youth participation
Support for clubs and exhibitors
Improvements to fairness, accessibility, and education in dog sport
These collaborative discussions ensure that junior handlers across Canada receive consistent opportunities, standardized judging expectations, and a unified pathway toward Zone Finals and ultimately Nationals.
